Overwhelm!!!!!!!!!! The realization that I have too many tasks to complete in a time allotted that is insufficient. We have all been there. Myself, I have just been navigating through one of those seasons in my life. Phew… or hurray… or I’m still alive?!
Needless to say, overwhelm has probably hit all of us at some point and if not please stop reading this because we need to meet up and I would love to ask you all your strategies surrounding the topic.
For me this wasn’t easy and I am having a tough time even saying it out loud but, I did it, I asked for help. Or in the case of my wife, I said “yes” to the help she was already offering. Even if it was only out of self-preservation, I did it and what I found was authentic humanity.
In my experience, people want to help people and when we say “yes” to help, an authentic human connection is formed. I was open, vulnerable and authentic in saying I couldn’t handle it on my own anymore.
This acceptance of help was beautiful. I surrendered ego and control and not only did the things that needed to get done get done, but the people in my life blasted me with their radiance.
With this awareness, I plan to check in with myself more often and identify the spots where I fall into overextension. Likewise, my empathy for people that may need a bit of humanity in their life received a much needed upgrade.
And if we are being honest, to those that are overwhelmed, we don’t disguise it as well as we think we do.

I love the enormously positive effects authenticity and vulnerability have on team culture. That team could be your athletic team, your work team and/or your family team. I believe we all have the desire to be on a successful or at least enjoyable team. Let’s connect.
